FoSTaC training explained: who needs it and what it covers

Food safety trainer with a group of supervisors

FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) is FSSAI's program for building trained Food Safety Supervisors inside food businesses. Licensed businesses are expected to have trained supervisors on each premises, in proportion to the number of food handlers.

Course levels

  • Basic: for food handlers and small businesses, covering hygiene and safe handling.
  • Advanced: for supervisors in manufacturing, catering, storage and retail, covering hazards and controls.
  • Special: sector-specific courses such as milk, meat, bakery, edible oil and packaged water.

Planning training for your team

Count your food handlers per premises, choose the right course for each role, and schedule refreshers before certificates lapse. As a FoSTaC training partner, we run sessions at your site or ours and manage certificates for you.
